Be kind

When you play online poker from cyberspace you can be kind. You can not do this in actual poker as you will have to have your game face on. Because your adversaries have no way of looking at your expression, you will be able to be agreeable with them by chatting with them while playing poker. This could appear as if an insignificant move, but it can actually help you bring home the bacon in online poker. You’ll be able to meet a new friend if you win or lose the round of poker. Your new friend might assist you with tips or what not as you learn more about poker. Or you’ll be able to pretend to be a friend, which will then give the idea to your adversary that you’re are to be trusted. Never mind how come you would like to befriend them being friendly is always helpful.

Because free roll tournaments are practically free, many players - good or bad - commonly join free roll tournaments. You are able to measure your level of competence through these. Lastly, free roll tournaments will give you the chance to win a ample amount of money. In live poker you will usually have to risk money to gain money. This isn’t the least bit necessary in free roll tournaments. It is a win-win situation.

Bet with your head.

A perceived disadvantage online poker bears is that a player could be to eager and wind up wagering a bit much. Before even thinking about it, arrange some sort of limit for yourself. Before playing online poker, make sure that you know just how much you are willing to wager. Online poker has a lot of advantages for tracking your money. At day’s end, if you end up not winning and stretching your self-imposed limit, you should stop. You are not likely to have success by just buying in for more money Take some time to read some about poker, and learn more about strategy before you play more.

Rakeback is a Dream Come True

So there you are, sitting in front of your computer, investing your time and money playing online poker. Maybe you’re not that good of maybe you are the next James Bond. Either way, we can’t all have a constant winning streak. No matter how shrewd a player you are, there will be times when the luck just isn’t going your way. That’s when it’s good to know that, even if you loose, you’ll get something back through a good rakeback deal.

There are a few ways you can ensure you get a good deal. You can either ask your online casino directly (if you don’t ask, you don’t get) or check out websites that only deal with rakeback. The best sites work in conjunction with all the top poker rooms to increase traffic to those sites, while at the same time securing the best possible rakeback deals for their players. The commission they receive for signing you up to a poker room is based on the rake you generate by playing. Get the majority of your funds back with rakeback.

With these sites, you are the main customer. It’s your interests they look after primarily, not the poker room’s. Poker rooms typically take about a 5% cut of every pot, and this is called the “rake”. You’ll often see it being taken and stacked at the top of the table when you are playing. With affiliate sites, the commission they receive for signing you up to a poker room is based on the rake you generate when you play. The more reputable affiliate sites , because of the partnerships they have built with a selection of poker rooms, will give you the majority of their commission back, sometimes as much as a 60% rakeback .

Even players paying as little as 200 - 300 pounds a month in rake can receive as much as 1,800.00 pounds a year back by signing up to a 30% rakeback deal. If you’re already playing poker online and not getting your rake back, you are missing out on free money - or at least getting back as much of your own money as possible as well as your winnings.

Signing up to a featured poker room through an affiliate site that offers rakeback means you can start recouping a large percentage of your rake straight away. If you already play at one of these rooms without rakeback then you can keep playing at the same poker tables with the same players by signing up with one of the other rooms which is on the same network.

The Need For A Workable Gambling Strategy

roulette system

The best gambling strategies online are not always the ones that win every time - but the ones that win more often than they lose.

Since gambling is not an exact science, you should expect some losses and you have to be prepared for these.

Nevertheless, so long as your strategy pans out and gives you more wins than losses, you will end up in profit in the long term.

One of the qualities that a lot of pro gamblers have is that they enter into a situation with a strategy. This is something that many beginners lack - they don’t know what to do in certain situations.

A professional gambler is a “pro” for a reason - they obviously know how to win more than they lose! They make sure to use a system to manage their money and make sure that any one lost bet will not leave them out of the game for good. They know that whatever happens, they are able to overcome those circumstances.

This helps to make their gambling decisions almost automatic and the consistency they stick to in their strategies ensures their ultimate success. By utilizing a sound gambling strategy, the professional players know that they will come out a winner. The losses they experience are just the cost of doing business for them. This holds true no matter what gambling arena they may be involved in - be it sports betting, or having a game of high stakes poker.

Novices however, have an inclination to approach situations with an entirely inconsistent manner, usually resulting in to significant losses.

Novices most of the time have no strategy to manage the money and by doing this, they often risk too much of their stake on one specific bet. If that bet happens to lose, they can find themselves out of the game immediately.

This kind of gambling is the thing that makes online casinos and bookmakers so very profitable - they know that most people who come in have not a single clue what they are doing and this makes for a very lucrative market.

If you want to bet on any type of sporting event or even playing poker online, you need to employ a gambling strategy before you start doing anything. You need a good strategy that is going to serve you for a long time so that you can be profitable.

Phil ivey has to Fold Pocket Kings to a Bluff.

Phil Ivey against Brad Booth

Brad Booth makes the most of this nothing hand against one of the best high-stakes, cash-game players in the world. Just to keep this hand in perspective the pot is $1,000 bucks before anyone even looks at thier cards.

This is a table full of TAGs and LAGs where if you make one mistake, you’ll be gutted, filleted and divided up among the remaining players.  David Williams makes a standard open raise 1800 but is reraised by Brad Booth to 5800.  I can see David making this raise but what is Brad thinking with this move? His hole cards are actually 2, 4 suited but Booth must have saw pocket aces instead.  Maybe he’s just looking to take the pot but for this small amount when they are sitting with 100’s of 1,000’s in cash behind it just doesn’t seem worth risking any for the return.  On the other hand, he knows the opponents he is up against and knows this hand is going to be make or break post flop.

He walks right into a monster though because Phil Ivey is sitting on KK or “Cowboys”.  So Ivey quickly reraises to 14,000 and of course David folds out the way.

Even though Booth knows Ivey is on a big pair, he queries as to how much Ivey has left in his stack.  Phil has a couple hundred grand so Brad CALLS phils preflop last re-raise for implied odds.  He knows if Phil has a big hand and Brad hits a miracle flop Brad stands to make a LOT of money in post flop play.

A ragged flop of 3 and 6 of diamonds and the 7 of spades gives much to ponder for each player.  Basically, Brad Booth is dead in the water now.The player first to act is Ivey and he quickly bets out $23 grand. This is where Brad thinks to himself, “Do I want to go all the way with this play?”.Hitting the gutshot or some lucky 4th and 5th street cards he may very well land a monster pot, but that is a wild long shot.

Instead he uses his position and stack size and comes over the top hard with a monster raise of $300,000 cash!  He knows that Phil cannot call him if he has a big pp like AA or KK because Phil can put him on a small pp that just hit a set for him or even a 45s which though a radical choice is quite conceivable with these players on this level.  Phil made his move, put out the chips and got his answer.Just like in the old western days, Booth is saying you are going to have to kill me to win this pot.

Phil Ivey isn’t willing to risk that, but I have a feeling Gus Hansen just might have.

Brad gives us a perfect example of using position, stack size and opponent read coupled with selective aggression in poker to win a pot he would otherwise have lost. You probably already realize that this in nothing like the games we play where you will get all kinds of action when you make moves like this.  They can’t put you on a hand and most don’t care, they only care about the hand they hold. When the competition is this tough, but also - this thoughtful - this is how you might go about it!

Poker a Novice’s Guide - 5 Card Draw the Basis of Poker Games

You wont find 5 card draw poker in the casino or online much as newer hybrid varieties are more popular.

However 5 card draw is the basis of all the new games (including the poker found on video slots) So lets learn it here and you the basics covered, before you look at all the variations.

Poker is actually a very simple game to play but can take years to master and is essentially a game of psychology and is one casino game where the best hand does not guarantee you will win.

Lets look at the basics of 5 card draw poker.

Playing the Game of 5 Card Draw Poker

5 Card Draw Poker begins only when all players place an ‘ante’ or opening bet into the ‘pot’ (on the table).

There are certain variations concerning the betting, and the game is often nicknamed after these. After the antes are all in, the dealer will deal five cards to each player, all face down.

In 5 Card Draw Poker, all cards are hidden until the hand is over.

Because of this there is no real information on who is holding what.

The only clues you can get, are bet amounts, the ‘tells’ or nervousness or confidence of the players, and also how many cards each player drew, and of course, there is the prospect any or all of them could be bluffing.

This is really what makes poker so exciting the expectation and anticipation. This especially 5 card draw poker, as you really wont know who is bluffing, who has a good hand, who not, till the very end.

The Games Routine

Now the player to the dealer’s left can either bet, with an option to bet ($5 at this point) or to check, meaning to pass, or fold (drop out of the hand).

In case the first player bets, the second player can no longer check. He can his only call, raise or fold. Usually you can only raise 3 times per hand.

After this round of betting in 5 card craw poker, the players remaining in the hand have the option to replace cards in their hand with new cards.

Again, the player to the dealer’s left is the first to ‘draw’ (take new cards for those he has discarded. He can discard from 1 to 4 cards, and in some games all 5). Next, the other players draw in their turn.

The way to draw is for you and select the cards you don’t want, remove them and remove them from your hand.

Next you give them to the dealer, at the same time saying how many cards you want ( note you can only take as many cards as you give to the dealer).

The Technique of Replacing Your Cards

As we said above, you can replace 1 to 4 of your cards. Some games even allow 5 but it doesn’t really bring an advantage for you to do that in 5 Card Draw Poker.

Even where you draw four new cards all will assume you are holding an ace, so you give away some clue to your hand. In poker, the less information you give the better. Its bad play to ask 4 cards. Therefore, the players will draw from none to 3 cards.

The player who draws no cards is known to be “pat.” This means to the other players he has a strong hand like a straight, a flush, or a full house, or of course he could be bluffing.

However there is a kind of bluff that’s used to create the impression of strength.

In this situation a player normally could be holding two pair or three of a kind, and will draw no cards.

This is a ploy in which you give up a potentially important chance to improve your hand, in return for creating the appearance of even stronger hand than you have.

In the same thinking you might be holding a completely worthless hand will draw no cards.

You hope to send out a message of strength, and if you combine this with strong betting and raising, you might actually win with all folding before you.

The Conclusion

Now after everyone has drawn their cards we have the second and final round of betting. Here in our example you must bet at $10.

It is the player who opened the betting on the first round who starts the betting on the second round.

After all the betting, calling and raising is done, the hand is over, and if more than one player is left, all the players lay their cards on the table so everyone can see who wins.

Online Poker- How To Choose The Right Poker Room For You

The great thing about playing poker online is that you can pretty much play whenever you have some free time. Got 30 minutes to spare? Then just sign on, find a game you like and start playing. It’s really that simple.

The only problem as I see it, there are so many different places to play online, how do you choose? By whoever offers the biggest bonus? The fanciest looking site?

When looking for a place to play online, consider how long the card room has been in business for - 4 to 5 years is a long time in the online gaming world. Sites associated with professional poker players also are more likely to be reputable - the theory being that they don’t want to be associated with a shady outfit. The pro players do not want to put their reputations on the line.

You can belong to more than one online casino or poker room as I do. Some poker rooms offer a better sign up bonus, some have better or more frequent freeroll tournaments. Another may have easier ring games. There is no limit to the number of poker rooms that you can join.

Do some research at a site that you trust which reviews online casino and poker rooms. Start out by making a small deposit. Try out the software and see if the site fits your needs. Does the site offer games at the limits that you want? Is it easy to withdraw cash? Are there enough players online when you are likely to play so that you’ll always have a good game available?

By checking out the lobby of an online site you will get to see who the players are in a particular game, the percentage of flops that they are seeing - which helps you find a tight or loose game, the number of hands being played per hour.

The most profitable games will be the ones that have larger than average pots and a high percentage of players that are seeing the flop.

Because of the relative ease that players have in switching tables, playing during lunch or before dinner means that at times you will be playing in shorthanded games.

When you are playing in a shorthanded game you should expect to play in a greater number of games. You should expect to play more hands as the value of low pairs now increases. The value of drawing hands will also decrease because there typically not enough players in the hand to make the pot large enough to chase.

Just about all online casinos have games that start out at limits as low as .05/.10 which are great for a beginner and increase in increments small enough so that you can slowly get acclimated to playing for larger pots. Of course if you prefer to go to the higher limit or no limit games, there is no shortage of these either.

One important note, if you are going to play online, I highly recommend using an alternate deposit method. Most credit card companies will not allow you to deposit directly into an online casino account. An alternate deposit method will accept the credit card payments into an account and you can transfer in and out of it from there. Just about every online casino deals with them.

Free Online Poker

Free online poker is always the best option when you feel like playing a game with a win. Do not imagine huge sums; they are just enough to keep you interested for hours. This is only for beginners though, because for expert players there are more complex games and bigger prizes.

As a novice you have to aim for play money because is the best way to get used to the free online poker tables, types of players and strategies. By playing without depositing real money, you don’t take the chance of losing your money. And also by playing for play money, which is available on every site, you can learn a few tricks which will help you move to the real money games.

One of the thousand websites where you can access free online poker is hansapoker.com, and like all the other sites we give online poker players the opportunity to play without depositing money. To be able to play, you need to register on the site and download the Hansa Poker software. Hansa Poker is offering the players the chance to win real money with absolutely no deposit needed. The moment you sign up for a real money account and you fill the bonus claim, you will be transferred to the Hansa Poker site’s Customer Service and your account will be credited with $10. If you win 5000 Action Points you will get another $30.

To be able to download the Hansa Poker software, your computer needs to be able to support the size and necessities of the software components, so it means that it should be equipped with at least 30 Mb of free space on your disk, a version of Windows 98 or higher, minimum 128 RAM memory and at least 40MHz the power of the processor.

Free online poker has made the poker game easier to learn, and a lot of people play it just as training for real games, outside the online poker environment. Most of these games have really high stakes involved, so using your computer to train without losing money can be of great help. Most of the poker players view free online games as an unparalleled occasion because it gives them the opportunity to play their favorite game for free.

Play money games are easy to play, so people have the tendency to get carried away. But this might really prejudice them, because they might go for real money games and not be able to win. So before you throw yourself head first into a real game make sure you have enough experience on the free online poker sites.

Most of the sites have freerolls which are tournaments where the hosting puts up cash prizes for the players, which can enter the game for free. The danger with this type of tournaments is the time vortex. This happens when you sit for hours and play the freerolls and the time spent doing this goes into a sort of black hole. This is not really worth the effort, unless you are a very good player and in real need for cash.

The most played poker games are Texas Holdem Poker and Omaha. Both of them are easy to learn to play but the difference between playing online and playing live consists in the fact that when you play live you need to be able to spot bluffs and be a good judge of character.

Casino Stud Poker Strategy

The goal of having a strategy for playing casino stud poker is the same as it is for any other game: to reduce the house advantage so that you can stay in the game longer and win more money. The strategy for playing Casino Stud Poker successfully boils down to two important principles:

1. Always raise if you are holding a pair or higher.

2. Always fold your hand if you are holding a total card value that is less than the dealer’s qualifying hand (which is always and Ace or a King.)

If you do this you can reduce the house edge to just over 5%.

To decrease the house’s edge an additional one percent it is also important to pay attention to what the casino dealer is holding. Here is how to play certain card combinations held by the dealer.

Always raise with a pair or higher, fold if you have less than an Ace and a King, and raise on Ace and a King if any of the following three rules apply.

1. Raise your bet if the dealer’s card is a 2 through a Queen and matches one of yours.

2. Raise if the dealer’s card is an Ace or a King and you have a Queen or a Jack in your hand.

3. Raise if the dealer’s rank does not match any of your cards and you have a Queen in your hand and the dealer’s card is less than your fourth highest card.

Another strategy to make money playing Casino Stud Poker is to play the side bet offered by most casinos. This is usually described as a progressive jackpot, which pays for hands that create a flush or better. Usually these side bets cost one dollar but of course what you put in the pot varies from casino to casino.

The specific payouts for a progressive jackpot also vary from casino to casino but usually 100% of the jackpot is paid out for a Royal Flush and 10% of the jackpot is paid out for a straight flush. Usually the casino seeds this jackpot with quite a bit of money. In some live casinos the amount is as high as $10,000. If two players tie for a jackpot then the player to the dealer’s right would win what is in the pot and the other winning player would win an amount equal to what the pot is usually seeded with (such as $10,000.)

The debate amongst strategists is whether or not playing the jackpot is a “sucker bet” or not. The average house edge against any player winning this jackpot is usually a whopping 26.46%. Also the casinos make a lot of money from these progressive jackpots, usually making 18 times as much as what they initially seeded the pot with. Still, on the other hand the disappointment would be quite great if you found yourself holding the Royal Flush and you have not bothered to put the dollar into the side bet.

A Community for Online Poker: Hansa Poker

Whether you’re at a party in your teens, at a get-together with your fellow senior citizens, whether you’re watching a western or just surfing the web, chances are somebody will at least mention poker. You might even be playing it. Poker had to go a long way from where it began to the raving casinos of today. But where did it really begin? What really started out what now is one of the most renowned games associated to the American culture?

Sadly enough, we don’t really know. It’s all lost somewhere between Persian sailors and the French settlers of New Orleans, while its name definitely has French origins. However, the bottom line is that it seems to incorporate several previously known card game ideas, such as bluffing. The oldest record of the game is from New Orleans, 1929; afterwards, it is said to have spread thanks to riverboats on the Mississippi (gambling there came naturally) towards the whole country.

The phenomenon has long since entered our ordinary lives. Perhaps one of the most popular and entertaining forms of gambling, poker can be played in an impressive number of different circumstances. Undoubtedly, the most accessible form is free poker over the Internet.

There’s no need to leave the comfort of your own home, you’re in perfect control of just how high or low the stakes are, and most of all, there’s not much of a chance of you returning home with a black eye. You make the relevant choices and you’re in full control when playing free poker online.

Hansa Poker is, in its essence, a brand associated to a website that offers top of the notch poker services and support. It’s more of a free poker experience – it has what it takes to initiate young players, together with help, answers to frequently asked questions and tips from experts.

However, the essential approach for beginners is suggested both by Hansa Poker tips and any other walkthrough you might encounter as a poker player: play free poker first! Money can indeed be a great factor of attraction, but money won can be money lost. Rookies entering high-stake poker tables are the biggest ways for people with no fault of their own, but reasonable game skills to make big, undeserved wins.

In any case, Hansa Poker is a true community that has brought together people of all kinds and skill levels for one common passion. Plus, it features several types of games and means of mastering the poker technique, as well as a wide range of prizes and bonuses for diverse situations.

A close-knit community like Hansa Poker proves the value of this game, regardless of its controversial, blurred origins. At the end of the day, its popularity speaks for itself. A vast quantity of poker content is available on the Internet, since the number of online poker players has soared; online poker revenues were estimated at a staggering 200 million US dollars in 2005. Each month of 2005, that is. An excellent balance between increasing winnings and increasing skill will undoubtedly make online poker players successful.
